Lord Russell-Johnston dies in Paris

We are very sad to inform you of the death of Lord Russell-Johnston last night in Paris on the eve of his 76th birthday. Member of the Liberal Group of the Parliamentary Assembly since 1985, President of the Group from 1994 to 1999, President of the Assembly from 1999 to 2002 and Honorary President of the Group since 2002, Lord Russell-Johnston will leave a gaping void in our Group and in our hearts. Lord Russell-Johnston was an authentic liberal: honest, sincere, full of humour and wisdom. His words never deferred his acts and the acts corresponded to the words. Our Lord will be truly missed by our Group and by the Assembly.

Nous avons une bien triste nouvelle à vous communiquer: Lord Russell-Johnston vient de décéder hier soir à Paris, à la veille de son 76ème anniversaire. Membre du Groupe libéral de l'Assemblée parlementaire depuis 1985, président du Groupe de 1994 à 1999, président de l'Assemblée de 1999 - 2002, depuis 2002 président honoraire du Groupe, Lord Russell-Johnston laissera un grand vide dans notre Groupe. C'était un authentique libéral : intègre, sincère, plein d'houmour et de sagesse. Chez lui, les paroles ne différaient pas des actes et les actes correspondaient aux paroles. Notre Lord manquera beaucoup et à notre Groupe et à l'Assemblée.
